Today I finished my first class that is worth actual accredited college credits. And I finished it with quite a bang as well. The class was Oral Communications... basically just a speech class. It was nice though because it was formatted in a way that I was very familiar. It was just like a vli intensive. It was scheduled over two weekends six weeks apart. Each weekend consisted of a Friday night class from 1700 to 2100, and a Saturday class time that went from 0800 to 1700. Splitting it up over these two weekend sessions was very convenient as well since I didn't have to worry about babysitting or having it conflict with church or Jade's activities.
So we had to perform 4 speeches. The first was a 2 minute long introductory speech. The catch was that we had to introduce somebody else in the class to the rest of the students. We had to meet for breakfast that first Saturday morning at 0800, and by 1030 we had to have our introductory speech ready to deliver. Very thrilling, if you ask me! I fought through the nerves and delivered a very good speech about passion and drive in my new friend.
The other 3 speeches had to be 5 minutes long each. One had to be a Informational, another Demonstrative, and the last Persuasive. So here's what I spoke on:
My Informational speech was about how to build/recognize a major scale on a piano or keyboard. You know, "WWhWWWh"? Yeah it was fun and the only criticism I received was that I didn't verbalize all my works cited in my speech. So I took that and ran with it.
My Demonstrative speech was about how to put a saxophone together. That was cool too, and I got to play for a few seconds for everybody.
My Persuasive speech caused the most stir, however. I decided to speak on why I think boxer-briefs are the better men's undergarment. Well, I guess there was a line somewhere... and I guess I crossed it when I was talking about the dribble and the dangle advantages of boxer-briefs. The dribble advantage of boxer-briefs over boxers is that after a guy uses the urinal, there is only a certain amount of shaking one can do to get the rest of the residue off the tip. The rest is left it "dribble" off the end. Something the boxer-brief takes care of by soaking it right up into the fabric. But with boxers it is left to drip a drop or two down one's leg.
The dangle advantage should be obviously apparent. Most boxer-brief provide a little bit of dangle room while briefs themselves offer none to speak of.
Yeah, so I crossed the line. So what, we're all adults right. And for the 2 ladies in the room, I did provide some female perspective. Last year, 60% of women between the ages of 18 and 34 bought men's underwear. And a majority of those were boxers. Most women also prefer the look of boxers over briefs for their man.
And after the test (which I received a 100% on BTW), I got an A for the course! I was excited! I did it! I wasn't necessarily happy the entire way through, but I made it through and that's 3 credits of required college schooling! Yippee!
...
Phew. Now I need a break.

Just for the record: I prefer boxer briefs.
